The Grindr community has just exceeded 4 million users worldwide, meaning there are more guys on this mobile social app than anywhere else. Together we've created the largest mobile gay community known to humankind. Not bad!
To keep up with all of you, we here at Grindr HQ have been working tirelessly to create a revolutionary new version of Grindr, which will be available as soon as we put the finishing touches on it.
“With 4 million men, Grindr is the best place to meet guys, and we’re introducing the new Grindr, which makes your search a lot easier and faster, with new features such as filters and communities,” said Joel Simkhai, founder and CEO of Grindr. “The new Grindr continues our commitment to innovation and our belief in leveraging location-based technologies to help gay men find one another.”
With the new Grindr, we're introducing a long list of fun new features that you're sure to find extremely helpful in your quest to quickly find just the type of guy you're looking for.
The new Grindr will give you better functionality, including filters, a new slide-screen menu, and an optimized interface with a revamped look and feel that still maintains the classic Grindr framework that all of you know and love.

Texts from Hillary: Your New Favorite Political Tumblr
OK, let's start off with something non-Grindr related for once. Everyone loves a good Internet meme, and the latest one, a Tumblr called "Texts from Hillary," is pretty hilarious. We started noticing "Texts" popping up on Facebook from U.S. Secretary of State and General Boss Lady Hillary Clinton late this past week, and we were instantly hooked. Then, it spread like wildfire. Team Grindr is proud to announce the official launch of Project Amicus at SXSW, the codename and website for a new location-based mobile app that lets users discover, interact, and meet with nearby people. This app is for everyone – straight, gay, and lesbian.
Amicus, a Latin word meaning ‘friend,’ highlights the project’s social emphasis. The app will allow users to connect with other people based on their physical location and facilitate new social relationships. “Users love our existing location-based mobile experience, and we recognize the demand for a mainstream app,” says Joel Simkhai, who is leading the project. “We’re thrilled to continue harnessing the power of location to deliver a compelling new global platform that fundamentally changes and improves the way we meet new people.”
“Location-based services have transformed the way we see and interact with the world around us, but they have had less impact on how we make new relationships," adds Scott Lewallen, the project's creative vision. "With Project Amicus our goal is to develop that next step, making it simple and convenient to meet."
Project Amicus promises a fresh spin on the location-based social phenomenon, and will be packaged with an optimized interface that catalyzes human interaction. Users can expect a unique mobile app experience unlike anything currently on the market that caters to how women and men communicate together.
