The official Grindr blog.
News and more from Team Grindr.
For those of you on the very cutting edge of all things Apple, we have some news to share with you. First of all, Grindr will work on iOS 6 (and that includes the iPhone 5).
We have an update to your current Grindr coming your way very soon, and it's going to fix the iOS 6 compatibility issues we've identified.
Here are some of the issues you may experience with your current Grindr or Grindr Xtra and iOS 6:
If you're planning to update your profile photo anytime soon, we suggest you do so before updating to iOS 6 or switching to the iPhone 5. If you already have iOS 6 or the iPhone 5, we advise that you hold off on updating your profile picture. A Grindr update to your current Grindr or Grindr Xtra that addresses these iOS 6 compatibility issues will be available in iTunes very soon, and we'll let you know when it's there. Thanks!
A special message to our Grindr Xtra guys: We really appreciate your business, and we want to keep you guys happy. We also want you to know how sorry we are about the service delays that took place last week.
So for the last week, our tech team has been working diligently to appropriately compensate you for the inconvenience. We're pleased to announce that we've now officially added an additional seven free days to your current Xtra subscription.
If you want to double-check our work, you can go into your account and see the extension. Within Grindr Xtra, tap "Menu," then "Settings," then "Grindr Xtra Store."
Thanks for being the best users ever, and keep grindin'!
The Grindr community has just exceeded 4 million users worldwide, meaning there are more guys on this mobile social app than anywhere else. Together we've created the largest mobile gay community known to humankind. Not bad!
To keep up with all of you, we here at Grindr HQ have been working tirelessly to create a revolutionary new version of Grindr, which will be available as soon as we put the finishing touches on it.
“With 4 million men, Grindr is the best place to meet guys, and we’re introducing the new Grindr, which makes your search a lot easier and faster, with new features such as filters and communities,” said Joel Simkhai, founder and CEO of Grindr. “The new Grindr continues our commitment to innovation and our belief in leveraging location-based technologies to help gay men find one another.”
With the new Grindr, we're introducing a long list of fun new features that you're sure to find extremely helpful in your quest to quickly find just the type of guy you're looking for.
The new Grindr will give you better functionality, including filters, a new slide-screen menu, and an optimized interface with a revamped look and feel that still maintains the classic Grindr framework that all of you know and love.
Here’s just a sampling of what the New Grindr will be capable of:

Texts from Hillary: Your New Favorite Political Tumblr
OK, let's start off with something non-Grindr related for once. Everyone loves a good Internet meme, and the latest one, a Tumblr called "Texts from Hillary," is pretty hilarious. We started noticing "Texts" popping up on Facebook from U.S. Secretary of State and General Boss Lady Hillary Clinton late this past week, and we were instantly hooked. Then, it spread like wildfire. Check out this piece on the phenomenon from Yahoo News

10 Dating Lessons I Learned From Grindr (As a Straight Woman)
We know Grindr's (obviously) got a lot of gay male fans out there, but it's always fun to get an outside perspective on our app. We came across the following article, thought it was pretty interesting, and figured, Hey, why not share some sociological insights on Grindr from the female perspective right here on our blog?

"1 Girl 5 Gays" - Season 3, Episode 24
Finally, we always love some TV time over here in Grindrville, and we were thrilled to learn that the ever-fun and fine folks up north at "1 Girl 5 Gays" asked and answered some Grindr-related questions in a recent episode. Kill some time by checking out the episode below:
It was three years ago that we first launched Grindr, and I would never have imagined that when we started up this little company in my living room, we'd be where we are today. It's an amazing feeling to travel the world and see people using Grindr in places all over the globe.
We've been going strong since March 25, 2009, when we first unleashed Grindr to the world. After one month, we had 10,000 Grindr users. These days, we get nearly 10,000 new Grindr users every day. The rough total tally is now 3.5 million Grindr users in 192 countries internationally (except for the island nations of Nauru and Tuvalu). That's a whole lot of Grindr guys in a really short amount of time!
Now we've got an office full of awesome people who have all been working hard every day to make Grindr the best app around, to innovate and solve issues. We've been working together behind the scenes to bring a better Grindr experience to all of our users, regardless of the platform. And as the year progresses, we plan to take some big steps forward in our mission to help gay men around the world connect with those around them.
For now, we just relaunched Grindr.com, so be sure to check that out. Here at Grindr HQ, we spent the past six months adding about 30 new people to our Hollywood-based office. And we still have some open positions.
To wrap it all up, I just want to say that the only reason we're still here is because of all of you -- our users. We're thrilled that you're all such passionate and devoted Grindr guys.
So to those of you who have been with us from the start, those of you who just downloaded the app yesterday, and everyone else in between: Thank you all for trying us out, sticking with us, and making this the best and largest gay social app out there.
Happy birthday -- here's to many more!
