FREE AND EQUAL.
Overview
Grindr for Equality is Grindr’s global social impact initiative, committed to advancing health and human rights for LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.
Powering this mission is the Grindr app—the world's leading social network for gay, bi, trans, and queer people. Grindr connects more than 14 million monthly users in 190 countries and territories not only to one another but also to a more equal future for us all.
Building on over 15 years of connecting LGBTQ+ people, Grindr has become the digital Gayborhood, a global platform where our community connects, shares, and accesses vital resources.Since its launch in 2015, Grindr for Equality has partnered with hundreds of advocates, community-based organizations, and public health agencies to drive meaningful change with the global LGBTQ+ community.
Our Vision
Grindr for Equality stands for LGBTQ+ communities everywhere, with one clear vision: a world where LGBTQ+ lives are free and equal.
Core Pillars
Grindr for Equality advances this bold vision across two interconnected pillars:
Health: We empower LGBTQ+ individuals and communities with the knowledge and tools to take charge of their health, promoting their well-being and advancing the global effort to end HIV.
Human Rights: We support advocates and organizations in the fight for equality and justice worldwide to help build safer, more equitable societies for LGBTQ+ individuals and families to thrive.

Our Capabilities
Grindr for Equality deploys a core set of capabilities that advance our mission:
- Partnerships: We fund and invest in grassroots organizations that help advance LGBTQ+ health and human rights around the world.
- Campaigning: We provide in-kind advertising on the Grindr platform for nonprofits to deliver targeted, time-sensitive messages in multiple languages.
- In-App Resources: We feature information on vital services, from HIV self-testing to safety tools that help protect users and their communities.
- Technological Innovation: We build product features that promote the safety and well-being of our users.
Our Impact
For more than 10 years, Grindr for Equality has provided direct financial aid and in-kind advertising to LGBTQ+ organizations across the globe. In 2024, we partnered with 258 organizations across 84 countries to run more than 1,700 localized, culturally-sensitive campaigns, generating 75+ million impressions.
HIV Self-Testing
Through partnerships and outreach efforts, Grindr for Equality has helped distribute more than 475,000 HIV self-test kits across six countries: the United States, Ireland, Georgia, Namibia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. Plans are currently underway to expand self-testing in Asia, Europe, and Latin America.
DoxyPEP
In response to a growing need for awareness of DoxyPEP, Grindr for Equality launched a campaign in March 2025, alongside an in-app feature that allows users to indicate, “I am on DoxyPEP.” This initiative aimed to increase visibility and normalize its use, building upon our commitment to promote comprehensive sexual health tools – including condom usage, PrEP, and our Sexual Health Resource Center. Since the campaign’s launch in the U.S., more than 2.3 million users have adopted the DoxyPEP feature in their profiles.
Mpox
In response to the Mpox crisis in 2022, Grindr for Equality launched a global awareness campaign that provided critical and timely information and resources to LGBTQ+ communities. Grindr for Equality partnered with 35 organizations to launch 290 messages across 77 countries and 29 languages.
The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) cited Grindr as a key, impactful private sector partner in its response to Mpox. Through this partnership, we made PAHO’s Mpox resources directly accessible via the app’s side drawer, building trust between LGBTQ+ communities and public health systems during a critical global health emergency.
Marriage Equality
Grindr for Equality partners with civil society organizations across all regions of the world who drive legislative progress and build public support for marriage equality. In 2024, same-sex couples in Czechia gained the right to form civil partnerships with legal protections, thanks to the advocacy of our partner, Prague Pride. In 2025 in Thailand, our partner, the Rainbow Sky Association of Thailand (RSAT), led the charge for marriage equality. Following this historic win, Grindr partnered with RSAT to host celebratory wedding events across eight provinces, registering more than 500 couples.
Together with our partners in Panama and Peru, we helped amplify the Sí Acepto campaign with our in-app messaging functionality. Through personal stories of LGBTQ+ couples, these campaigns reduce stigma, drive public mobilization, and expand support for legal recognition of same-sex relationships.
