13 Pansexual Celebrities You Should Know About
Celebs: They’re just like us. Save for having the budget to justify a $40 green smoothie from Erewhon, celebrities are ultimately just people. And that means they can be pansexual.
A pansexual person can be attracted to anyone, regardless of gender. The attraction could be romantic, sexual, emotional, or all three. It differs from bisexuality; bisexual people factor gender into their attraction, whereas pansexuals couldn’t care less about a person’s gender.
So, which famous people can we parasocially project our sexual identities/fantasies onto? Read on to find out!

Who are famous pansexuals? 13 celebs who’ve come out as pan
If you’re wondering who just came out as pansexual, we have the list you want. Here are 13 famous pansexual individuals blazing trails in Hollywood and beyond:
1. Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus grew up in the public eye, a tough place to identify as queer. From a Disney doll to a stunning adult songstress, this genderfluid popstar is still killing it in the spotlight, now more authentically than ever.
Miley Cyrus’ pronouns are she/her, and she/her also finds herself holding the honorable role of “icon for the LGBTQ community.” Part of that is because she came out as pansexual in 2016. The other part comes from all that see-you-next-Tuesday she’s always serving.
2. Demi Lovato
Demi Lovato is used to fielding questions about their gender and sexuality — maybe too used to it. They’ve had a similar trajectory to Miley Cyrus, living in the public eye and growing alongside their fans. In 2021, the superstar singer came out as pansexual and nonbinary, insisting on they/them pronouns. Since then, they’ve reincorporated she/her (although they’re notably they/she, not she/they), partially due to the exhaustion of explaining their gender neutrality ad infinitum.
Demi Lovato has always been direct and honest about many things. They’re upfront about their mental health and struggles with addiction, as well as their pansexuality. Demi’s voice is powerful in more ways than one; they’re a fierce advocate for queer people everywhere who want to defy society’s labels and boxes.
3. Janelle Monáe
Janelle Monáe stepped onto the music scene without fear and immediately broke down barriers. Her incredible music and unique style have captured the hearts of millions.
And that suits Janelle just fine — because she’s pansexual! The nonbinary musician came out in a 2018 Rolling Stone interview, saying she identifies with the definition and is “open to learning more about who I am.”
4. Madison Bailey
Madison Bailey revealed her pansexuality early in her career, around 2017, but everyone seemed to think it was brand new when she posted about her girlfriend on TikTok and Instagram in 2020. The Outer Banks star uses her platform to inspire others to be their true selves.
5. Kesha
Kesha has had a challenging relationship with the media, but isn’t that true of all icons? The artist was an out and proud bisexual over a decade ago, coming out in 2013 in Seventeen magazine. “It’s not about a gender. It’s just about the spirit that exudes from that other person you’re with.”
Eagle-eyed readers will notice that this definition is more in line with pansexuality than bisexuality. Sure enough, she clarified in 2022 that she preferred not to label her sexuality at all. We won’t push her to identify any one way, but we’re sure the pansexual community is always there for her with open arms.
6. Yungblud
Yungblud is a rapper-singer known best for the meteoric rise of his 2018 debut album. But he’s also made headlines for coming out as pansexual, eschewing many stereotypes about what it means to have an all-encompassing approach to love. He even credits his ex-girlfriend, Halsey, for helping him come to terms with who he is.
7. Cara Delevingne
Actress and model Cara Delevigne came out as pansexual in 2020 (although the genderfluid actress now simply calls herself queer). She told Variety magazine, “However one defines themselves, whether it’s ‘they,’ or ‘he,’ or ‘she,’ I fall in love with the person — and that’s that. I’m attracted to the person.” That’s pretty much textbook pansexuality summed up succinctly, and we appreciate Cara’s willingness to boil it down for the rest of us.
8. Bella Thorne
Bella Thorne is another celeb familiar with the Disney-to-household-name pipeline. The Disney Channel show Shake It Up gave her a platform, and she used it to come out to her fans as pansexual in 2019. Bella Thorne initially resonated with bisexuality, only to learn about pansexuality later. “I’m actually a pansexual, and I didn’t know that.” We love seeing people find the vocabulary they need to understand themselves better.
9. Wayne Brady
Wayne Brady is an American comedy icon, so it’s safe to say his coming out in 2023 as pansexual was a major win for those on the queer spectrum. Speaking on what pan means to him, he jokes that pansexuality is like bisexuality “with an open mind!” He also says he loves “all people equally, including myself.” If that’s not the energy we’re trying to cultivate for the rest of our lives, we don’t know what is.
10. Rina Sawayama
Rina Sawayama is a Japanese and British pop artist. If you didn’t recognize her name, you’ve got some homework, gay one! Rina has long been open about her sexuality and the importance of queer visibility. Despite previously describing herself as bisexual, she came out as pansexual in a Vice article where she stressed the importance of queer visibility.
11. Mae Whitman
Mae Whitman knows queer representation is important. In a Tweet about her role in Disney Channel’s The Owl House, she revealed she was pansexual. In the post, she wished she could have had similar LGBTQ characters to identify with when she was young. Good thing we have actors like her setting things right.
12. Bob the Drag Queen
Bob the Drag Queen’s identity was never a secret; she’s been unapologetically purse first about how she lives, including her polyamorous relationships and sex life. But she set the record straight (or whatever) after taking to Twitter in 2019 to say she identified as pansexual and nonbinary. She might not be Roxxxy Andrews, but she certainly was here to make it clear about her sexuality and gender identity!
13. Joe Lycett
Joe Lycett is a British comedian known for his elaborate and outlandish sense of humor. When it comes to pansexual celebrities, male-identifying individuals are less common. But Joe is a good get, although he’s somewhat critical of the obsession with terminology. “I do not expect to see it on any forms or whatever. It’d be nice to use it more than I do. But it’s not something that I get that fussed about. Pan articulates the beauty of how complex the thing is.”
Snaps for celebrity representation!
It’s not easy to come out, but it can be even more complicated in the public eye. Many celebrities likely still hide their truth for fear of backlash. But those who live authentically provide a touchstone for others with similar experiences. And we say that deserves some recognition from the rest of the community!
